I don’t have strong views on whether to shave my pubes but I know that it can be a divisive issue for some guys. My partner of many years, who was very hairy, had strong views. He didn’t approve of me trimming my pubes. He said guys were trying to resemble little boys which I don’t think is true as a motivation or as a look. He also said he thought guys were trying to make their cocks look bigger but he said it didn’t work. I think he was closer to the mark here although it has never been a factor for me as I’m confident about how much cock looks size-wise.
For me comfort, utility and aesthetics have been more important.
In terms of comfort I can say that I started shaving my balls when I was quite young. I love the soft feel of my smooth balls. I have my balls a long time before I ever shaved my shaft or pubes. To be honest, it never occurred to me to shave my pubes. I only contemplated it when I started seeing other guys who had made the cut.
I well remember the first guy who I saw with shaved pubes. I’d gone around to his house to fuck him and saw his shaved pubes. It was a turn on but I didn’t really understand. I blurted out a question about why he’d done that. I didn’t get much of an answer beyond that he liked it. He had a bit of razor burn which gave me some pause.
Utility caused me to start shaving the shaft of my penis as I didn’t want guys to get hair in their teeth as the deep throat me. I didn’t like that myself. It wasn’t a great leap from there to shaving the pubes entirely.
I remained completely smooth for many years. Often I’d wax rather than shave. I liked the way my smooth pubes looked and felt. Quite a number of other guys were doing it. Sometimes I’d shave around my ass as well. I worked on a reciprocity theory - I enjoy rimming smooth hairless asses so I offer mine in that form as well. I often waxed my chest as well and later started shaving my legs for an all over smooth feel.
However, I found shaving my ass physically awkward so tend to do it only for special occasions. My ass (and body generally) is naturally nearly smooth anyway with little visible hair.
More recently I’ve been tending towards limited trimming.
I decided to let my pubes all grow back as I wanted my Chinese boyfriend at the time to enjoy the exotic ginger colour which would be rare in China. I also perceived that fewer guys were now shaving their entire pubes, the fashion seemed to have shifted. I still shave my balls and shaft but just use an electric trimmer to slightly constrain the spread. Occasionally I may trim the length but not shave or remove the pubes.
